Seniors Kaitlyn Church and Dallin Allred pose with scripts for their first musical “Legally Blonde.”

Every spring the Powell High School Drama Club pours blood, sweat and tears into their annual musical production.

And the cast of this year’s production, which is Legally Blonde, includes a group common in just about every production seniors who have never been in a musical before.

“I watched High School Musical 3 and I thought it would be cool to do my senior year,” senior Tanner Moore said.

A member of the co-current class Acting I, Moore took part in the class production of Night of the Living Dead last fall. Now, with the role of Kyle the UPS guy, Moore goes through with his Troy Bolton dreams.

“I expect to have a fun time,” he added.

For some, senior year constitutes the last chance to participate in activities they’ve never tried.

The open-audition musical happens to be one on that list for many students, but knocking a musical off their bucket list isn’t the only reason people try out.

“I have friends that have been in musical in past years and they’ve always had a lot of fun with it,” senior Kaitlyn Church said.

In her debut role as Dana, a sorority girl and part of the Greek chorus, she will spend her time on stage backing up the main character Elle with singing, dancing and.

“I just want to meet some new people before I leave,” she said.
