Freshman Salem Brown shows off her crazy socks decorated with cavemen.

Everybody has their own way of expressing their individuality. For some it’s a favorite hoodie, and for others it’s a favorite hat. For some people, however, it’s something much better…crazy socks.

Crazy socks are like regular socks but with flair. They add that extra bit of pizzazz that sets them apart from the basic old black and white socks.

I wear crazy socks because regular socks are boring and I don’t like being boring, people say I have way too many. I disagree.

— Jeremy Harms

“It just lets me express myself,” freshman Salem Brown said. “It’s a way that I am able to show how I’m feeling. They look cool and I rock them.”

Brown was sporting caveman socks and has a wide variety of crazy socks, with her favorite being her guacamole or pink flamingo socks.

“I wear crazy socks because regular socks are boring and I don’t like being boring,” sophomore Jeremy Harms said. “People say I have way too many. I disagree.”

Although crazy socks seem to be pretty popular, not everyone is a huge fan of the bright colors and flashy patterns. Sophomore Rydr Keefer is one of those people.

“Ever since I was a young lad, I’ve had a hatred for excessively colorful socks,” Keefer said. “Don’t wear crazy socks. Wear basic socks.”

Keefer’s dislike towards crazy socks is quite surprising but understandable. For some, a basic pair of black or white socks gets the job done. Crazy socks, however, get the job done in style.

All in all, crazy socks are very popular. Yes, they are flashy. Yes, they have crazy colors and patterns. That is what makes them special though. They make for a great way to show off your personality and color palette.

“Each day when you wake up you are probably tired,” Harms said. “You open your sock drawer and see all these cool colors and patterns and it makes you happy.”
