Five things to do during the long freezing winter

Winter is upon us and did not hesitate to cut fall off right in her foot-steps. We Wyomingites will never leave this desert of a state. Why you might ask? Because were stuck knee deep in snow in the middle of November.

On another note, let’s be real. For those who have lived in Wyoming nearly their ENTIRE lives, please stop complaining. I nor anybody else cares about how your car slide on the ice…it happens…its winter. We have six more months of this horrid Siberian weather, let’s just make it easier on ourselves AND everyone around us by not commenting on how cold it is every 5 minutes. Here’s the cold (literally) hard truth, I am one of those people. Lucky for me I can do anything with a shovel. And if it takes a years’ worth of shoveling snow, I will be on my merry way to warmer country. Perhaps Texas? Or Oklahoma? Florida sounds pretty good right about now too. All I know is that I’m one month into winter and already having mental breakdowns. On a more enjoyable note, Thanksgiving is in less than a week. And then Christmas. Oooo, Christmas. The only good thing about this extended winter is that it’s socially acceptable to have 5+ mugs of hot chocolate. Now that we’ve pitied ourselves, we might as well take advantage of this mishap. How you might ask? Well there’s a variety of ways.

Here’s some suggestions;

  1. Go snowshoeing, I’ve never been but it sounds like something an adventurist would do..and who doesn’t want to adventure?
  2. Curl up by the fire and binge watch Netflix. I don’t know about you but I would take advantage of this while you can because the weather outside is the only excuse you have to not seem like a complete slug.
  3. Use the cold weather as an excuse to go on a vacation to Mexico.
  4. Build a snowman. Who doesn’t like snowmen? I couldn’t tell you because everyone likes them.
  5. Go on a sleigh ride! It doesn’t get much better than that. Even though your butt gets stuck to the seat cause it’s so GOSH DANG COLD.
