PHS Weighs In About Their Favorite Snacks
SNACK TIME

The appetite of a high school student is unmatched. Three meals a day just won’t cut it. Enter snack foods.

From candy bars to Cheez-Its, there are plenty of options for hungry students to choose from. However, sometimes, it can be difficult to choose between the wide variety of choices. Powell High School students weigh in on their favorite foods. But first, what classifies something as a snack food?

“I think that it is something that you don’t have to put a lot of effort into,” sophomore Emma Sapp said. “I think that you have to be able to have it ready in less than 3 minutes.”

While Sapp’s statements are echoed by other students, another sophomore has a slightly different idea.

“I think that it can’t be messy,” sophomore Alyssa Ely said. “That, and it should be quiet.”

Many students agreed that the mess was a very important part of a good snack.

“I don’t like chips or anything like that, they just leave too many crumbs,” junior Peyton Nolan said. “I just prefer something cleaner, like fruit. Frozen mango is my favorite.”

Health really seemed to be a major concern. Fruit is a very popular snack. People seem to enjoy that fruit is quick and clean.

“Strawberries are my favorite,” said Ely. “I think that the flavor just tastes  good all the time.”

Besides fruit, others enjoyed something salty.

“I like those peanut butter pretzel things,” freshman Kazdin Lee said. “I like that they have salty and savory elements.”

Obviously, snacks are not one-size-fits-all food. In fact, some students really don’t care about specifics.

“I really will eat anything,” freshman Anika Anderson said. “I am not really picky.”
