Everyone knows that Isabelle Urbach is an academic superpower when it comes to school and an unrelenting tennis player, but many don’t know what powers this incredible senior.
Question: What are your thoughts on Isabelle Urbach?
Tennis Coach Stephen Whipple’s Answer: She’s a wonderful person, a great student, and a great competitor. She’s one of my favorite seniors to work with as a coach on the tennis program, and interacting with her in student council and in classes has been a pleasure.
Isabelle has been in the tennis program for two years, quickly progressing through the ranks and achieving the title of varsity 1st doubles. She has also been in the student council for two years, serving her senior year as the vice president.
Question: What characteristic do you think she has that will help her most in the future?
Whipple’s Answer: Her tenacity, I think, when she sees something she wants, she’s going to go after and she’s going to work hard and get it I think she’s got a good drive and I think she’s going to be an extremely successful person because of that I mean she’s extremely intelligent but her drive is what is going to bring her there.
Isabelle’s smarts will take her extremely far, but coaches, teachers, and mentors all know that her perseverance and determination will amplify her success.
Question: How do you think she has grown as a person or player this year or throughout her entire High School career?
Whipple’s Answer: I think she’s gained more maturity and confidence on the tennis court for sure. When she started out her sophomore year, playing, she had never played tennis before, so she’s had a great growth curve in just improving her game and her knowledge of the game. She’s always been a great competitor, but I think she’s been able to use that and apply that more to Tennis this year, especially.
Whipple has great confidence in Isabelle’s abilities on the court. In only a short 2 years, it is clear that her tenacity and willpower have brought Isabelle great lengths in improvement. We can only imagine what she is going to achieve in the following years.
Question: What have your goals been for this year?
Isabelle Urbach’s Answer: “My goals academically is to keep my GPA intact and apply to I guess a decent range of colleges so I can try to get into some different ones and see what my possibilities are I plan to apply to some like more safe schools and then some reach schools so I have a wide variety so I can choose when the time comes.”
With a clear focus on academic excellence, she’s committed to maintaining a strong GPA while strategically applying to a diverse range of colleges, from safe choices to ambitious reach schools, ensuring she has the freedom to choose the best path when she is ready.
Question: What was your goal coming into High School?
Urbach’s Answer: I feel like my goal coming into high school was pretty general. I think I was trying to figure out what I liked and just kind of looked at various careers. Throughout High School, I’ve learned that my favorite career path or area of study is actually biology, and so I’ll be looking at getting a bachelor’s degree in biology, which is convenient because you can get almost anywhere, which is nice.
Priorities straight and cross-hairs locked, Urbach’s focus is crystal clear.
Question: What do you think your greatest accomplishment, academic or non-academic, has been this year or all of your high school years?
Urbach’s Answer: Probably one of my better accomplishments probably has been my test scores academically and I guess my GPA my other probably my favorite accomplishments has been playing tennis and making a lot of friends and then I feel like my relationship with my family has grown a lot in high school and I’ve learned to Value them more than I did in Middle School.
