THREE POINT G.O.A.T.?
Stephen Curry’s bounce back after career endangering injury
More stories from Maddie Campbell
After struggling to find his rhythm in 2020, Golden State Warriors’ point guard, Stephen Curry has his mojo back, 2021 is a new year. Coming back from an injury, Curry finds himself and his team playing the Portland Blazers. Everyone knows they are gonna win. And Curry is feeling the hot hands.
Curry finished 18-for-31 at mid-range, as well as 8-for-16 beyond the three point line, and was 18-of-19 on free throw line. Curry led the team in points scoring 62, a new career high for the sharp-shooter, ending the game 137-122 Golden State. Curry is one of the best shooters in league history and the stats back it up.
Curry is the best basketball player I have watched, other than Michael Jordan. The way he moves to get open, always wants the ball and will lead his team to the end even on the bench. Curry has proven you can do anything if you believe, coming back from an injury, having people always tell him he was too short to play (even though he’s listed at 6-foot-3) in the NBA. He has definitely proven everybody wrong.
This star, who came to the forefront when Davidson College made an Elite Eight run in 2008, has supported a wide variety of charities throughout his career, including the Animal Rescue Foundation, the United Nations Foundation, and Nothing But Nets. Also, he travels all over the world supporting causes such as AIDS research, animals, children, environment, health, human rights, peace, and women. Curry also has raised eighty-two thousand dollars to fight malaria.
Curry ended up scoring 31 in each half. By the middle of the game, the team had figured out that Curry was not passing the ball and just shooting, but putting on the best performance of his career. I would say Curry is better than LeBron James both on the court and on the media.
“I thought his performance was amazing,” PHS junior Dylan Escalante said. “He definitely deserved it. He just came back from an injury and scores a 62-point career high? That’s just crazy to me.”
“I think he got to where he is because of all the hard work he’s put in while no one’s watching. Always being told he was too short to play in the NBA. All he did was grind and work to get where he is today and that impacts me as a fan because that shows me that anything is possible.”
Curry is 36 years old and he hasn’t even thought about retiring yet. He is on the verge of passing Ray Allen on the NBA career 3-point list with 2,569 3’s.
He IS the best shooter in league history.
