Research shows that one person watches at least 100 movies or shows annually, but out of 100, which one is your favorite?
Seasonal favorites usually reflect one’s most liked season. Worldwide, the most favored season is spring, but PHS students may disagree.
“Fall is the best overall,” junior Mason Coombs said. “I like movies that take place in that time, for example, ‘The Batman,’ ‘Donnie Darko,’ but besides those two movies, I like the big coming-of-age or teen romance type of movies for fall.”
While the reasoning might be the similarities between the show and the season, other reasons might be how they can relate to the shows or movies on a personal level.
“My favorite season is summer because it’s a time in life when I can make most decisions by myself and not be controlled by school,” sophomore Taylor Iverson said. “I like to watch ‘Tangled’ because it reminds me that when I feel trapped, there is always a way out and to keep reaching for the stars.”
Connections with movies are great to captivate and draw viewers in. Something that pulls watchers in is holiday favorites.
“I’d have to say winter is my favorite season,” sophomore Leeanne Phillips said. “I really like ‘The Grinch,’ like a lot of Christmas movies…’The Nightmare Before Christmas’ – that’s kind of fall and winter.”
Phillips was stuck between fall and winter, so there might not be one specific season you prefer, and having multiple is always a choice. Fall seems to be a hit for PHS students.
“I get tired of all the seasons at some point, but I think it takes the longest for me to get tired of fall,” freshman Daniel Easum said. “I kind of re-watch whatever I’m feeling at the moment…as for now I’m feeling ‘Baki,’ it’s a fun show.”
Any show can be considered a seasonal show when it comes to Easum being up for anything as long as it’s entertaining. Plenty enjoy a good show with friends or family.
“I like summer,” senior Isabelle Lobingier said. “I like to watch ‘Brooklyn 99’…I watched it with my dad, and we really enjoyed it the first time we watched it. So we now rewatch it over the summer.”
You can’t go wrong with family time. Another thing you can’t go wrong with is a scary movie for a scary season.
“I like autumn because it’s pretty,” junior Geo Dillworth said. “I like ‘Paranorman’ or ‘Holloween Town’…They’re just very nostalgic childhood movies.”
With a variety of movies and shows, a very distributed taste is evident in the students of PHS, all with different reasons but the same appreciable input.
