For the first time in Powell High School history, the dance team and cheer team performed together for the football game’s halftime show. Excitement was running high when these two talented groups paired up. Both teams went out on the field and gave a stellar performance.

The teams danced to the song Country Girl by Luke Bryan, which perfectly matched the energy that night as they gave it their all. Despite the football team’s tough loss against Green River, the performance boosted morale for Panther fans.

“Everyone on the dance team was really friendly,” sophomore cheer team member Joseph Bott said. “It was really fun!”

Even though performing with a new group of people presented some challenges, the teams were willing to work hard and go the extra mile. With only four practices to perfect their performance, they were able to pull off an amazing performance.

“It was a little difficult,” sophomore dance team member Brookelyn Horning said. “You had to get to know each other more, so you create a good team dynamic.”

This new experience resulted in positive outcomes. The combined group brought a great performance while also bringing the teams closer together. Working together created a friendly atmosphere for everyone to get to know each other.

“My favorite part about working with the cheer team was the friendliness,” sophomore dance member Brooke Talmadge said. “It was fun because nobody had done it before.”

Every year in high school is about trying new things. New experiences can be unexpected and difficult, but this performance was an event that brought added excitement to the game.

“I liked trying new stuff we don’t usually do,” Horning said. “Kind of like experimenting to see what works. I would like to do it again.”

Each football season brings new opportunities to create new memories. It’s more than just watching football; it’s the people around you that add to the fun for the cheer and dance members.

“I thought it was a really different experience,” Talmadge said. “It would be fun to do it again next year.”
