Senior Brighton Streeter is one busy bee, managing a busy schedule and doing a plethora of activities.

Despite his days filled with school and extracurricular activities, Streeter still finds time for the things he likes to do, such as flying and building FPV drones, building his robot, and playing with Lego sets. In order to do all these activities and do them well, Streeter has a strategy to manage his time.

“Prioritize. Put the most important tasks first,” Streeter said. “For me, this is a checklist. I write down all the things I need to do from the most to least important and take them on one at a time.”

Time management is also an important skill every high school student should learn to use. It can later be used later in life.

“Finding time to study, between robotics, other classes, and researching colleges is extremely difficult,” Streeter said. “High school has prepared me for my future in college and eventually in the workforce by teaching me how to work.”

Following his interests and dreams, Streeter is planning to take them to the next level in college. He’s already jump-started his career with Northwest College CAD and higher mathematics classes.

“I’m planning to go straight to college,” Streeter said. “I plan on majoring in aerospace engineering with a minor in Unmanned Aircraft Systems, so I can keep designing and building drones.”

He also has his opinions on classes he has taken at high school. In comparison, when you go to college you get to pick what classes you take, while in high school, students take required courses.

“A lot of classes feel unrewarding, and sometimes subjects might feel useless,” Streeter said. “But every single class teaches skills that are more important than anything else. They teach you how to learn, and how to work.”

Additionally, he faces many challenges along the way. PHS offers NWC classes, and many students take advantage of completing before they graduate.

“Some of the biggest challenges I face are in the classes I take,” Streeter said. “By taking advantage of Dual Enrollment classes at NWC I’ve worked my way through the highest-level drafting and math classes.”

But in the end, it works out well, and he gets the grades he worked hard for by managing time and prioritizing more important things, but there was one thing he’d like to change about his high school career.

“If I could change one thing about my high school experience, I would spend more time with my friends,” Streeter said. “The people in your life are more important than an A or a trophy or whatever it is that you’re passionate about.”

In the end, students should learn to enjoy high school and everything that comes with it. They should make the most out of what comes next and create the best memories.

“If I had to pick one that’s most memorable, it would be the loss at state robotics last year,” Streeter said. “Failure teaches more than any success ever will. The memory of sitting in my disappointment while watching others succeed will resonate with me forever.
