Luggage packed and ready to go for an upcoming trip.

Let’s be honest. We’ve all had an upcoming trip that we’ve known about for months, and suddenly it’s the night before and we still haven’t even grabbed the suitcase out of the garage.

This is applicable to student athletes, long-time travelers and the typical “let’s go see your great Aunt Sue in the nursing home nine  hours away.” Many of us continue to wait until two hours before a trip to start the packing process. We’re talking jeans still in the dryer and the curling iron still set on high.

“I roll my clothes, so I don’t have to shove everything in at the end,” senior Gabri Lundberg said. “I lay out outfits for each day so it’s easier to decide what I will wear.”

Added senor Kenadee Bott: “Make a checklist.”

So here it is, the ultimate packing tips to make your next trip a little less stressful.

Do’s

  • Pack only the necessities.
  • Roll your clothes up to make plenty of room.
  • Pack your pillow and blanket for the drive and the place you’re staying at.
  • Pack extra of somethings for those “just in case” moments.
  • Remember your medications, if needed.
  • Have your mom check it and then start over because it was probably wrong.

Don’ts

  • Pack your whole closet – you’re not moving in.
  • Forget your clean underwear.
  • Just throw in some stuff and hope for the best – it most definitely will not be the best.
  • Wait until the morning of to start looking at this list.
  • Forget your charger OR headphones.
  • Finally, and most importantly, DO NOT tell your mother that you still haven’t packed yet. She will threaten to turn the car around and cancel the trip the entire drive…and probably while you are there.

So here it is in all its glory. The ultimate packing list brought to you by the world’s quickest packer. Follow these simple tips and you, my friend, could become one of best packers…at least at Powell High School.
