These Santas are just a few of the many Christmas decorations the Simpsons own, they stand tall reminding them that Christmas is on it’s way.

Are you ho-ho-holding on to your decorations, or does Christmas start after Halloween? As many song lyrics have taught to us throughout our lives, Christmas is “the most wonderful time of the year.”  Some people start the Christmas season as soon as Halloween ends.

People can have their opinions but here are two sides to the debate that are as old as the holidays themselves.

Mrs. Julie Simpson is a believer of decorating early.

“It makes me feel good and brings brightness to my day,” Mrs. Simpson said. “There are things we can’t control in my life but I can decorate early for Christmas to make me smile. All of my Santa’s need to be seen and appreciated and the month of December is just not long enough.”

Even Mrs. Simpson believes Thanksgiving is overlooked, but she still continues to decorate early.

“I set up for Halloween and Thanksgiving in September and take them down the day after Halloween. Then November 1st I am setting up for Christmas,” she said.

As you can tell Mrs. Simpson loves Christmas and just wants to spread the cheer and feel the happiness as long as possible.

The opinions of many people such as freshman Ben Whitlock love Christmas but boycott it before Thanksgiving and refuse to partake in any festivities until after November.

“I just can’t bring myself to celebrate before Thanksgiving,” said Whitlock. “But after Thanksgiving I go all out.”

Mrs. Simpson’s family doesn’t always share the same opinion.

“My daughter Jozi loves Thanksgiving and she too feels like it is overlooked,” Simpson said.
