A COUPLE CENTS SHORT
The COVID-19 virus has caused shortages throughout the country.

The Coronavirus pandemic has caused notable shortages in the US, specifically when it comes to coins. The reason this shortage is going on is because of the coworker safety measures that came about involving the actual handling of money.
According to the New Jersey-based news site nj.com, “…that penny you find on the floor is more valuable than ever.”
Some banks have experienced this shortage, from producing the coins to giving them away. It doesn’t help that companies have to keep their workers/employees safe.
“Dempsy’s banks usually dispenses 400 to 500 rolls of coins,” npr.org said. “Now they are dispensing down to around 100 rolls.”
“The United States Mint and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin even have posted messages on Twitter this month asking people to use their spare change at stores or turn in coins to the banks until the economy recovers and the shortage normalizes,” Nj.com said.
Some fears the House Financial Services Committee have are that people are going to act poorly when they can’t get change when they ask for some.
This pandemic has also caused the US to have a pepperoni shortage. Pizza companies have been paying a lot more to get pepperonis.
“It’s an American right to have pepperoni on pizza,” co-owner of a New York City pizza shop Matthew Hyland mentioned to Bloomberg. “Pepperoni is such a huge part of pizza…”
Wset.com mentioned that slices of pizza are getting pricier due to this shortage. A bunch of people have been seeing prices getting higher in the popular topping.
The pizza shortage hasn’t affected all business, though.
“Large pizza chains including Domino’s, Pizza hut, Little Caesars and Papa Johns haven’t experienced shortages,” wset.com said in a Bloomberg report.
Dr. Pepper also is hard to come by and has affected the US due to this pandemic. Reports indicate people stocked up on aluminum canned drinks, similar to the toilet paper rush January-March.
“…the popular soda is widely unavailable in some parts of the US,” said Dr. Pepper on Twitter.
Added Abc7ny.com: “Dr. Pepper tweeted saying they’re working to stock shelves while keeping their employees safe during the pandemic.”
This shortage applies to all the Dr. Pepper flavors. From original to the newest flavor to the Dr. Pepper Cream Soda.
Aluminum cans are getting low as well. This is a major problem for the Dr. Pepper company. People have been stocking up all aluminum can products — from fruit and beans to soda and beer.
“… beverage company employees are doing all they can to make sure store shelves remain fully stocked,” according to CNN.
