When shopping for a vehicle, you go to the dealership and have two choices: buy a truck or a car. This has always been a big debate in the motor vehicle industry, and most people have strong opinions on the topic. Students and teachers at PHS are no different.
Sophomore Tayson White, for example, is definitely under the opinion that trucks are the better choice.
“Trucks all the way,” White said. “I mean, they have bigger trunks, they can pull bigger trailers; you could even put a four-wheeler in the back.”
On the flip side, freshman Henry Tilitson thinks cars are the more practical choice.
“I’m not saying that pickup trucks are useless; it’s just that I see so many people who buy a huge pickup truck and do nothing with them,” Tilitison said. “Cars, on the other hand, get much better mileage.”
Jennessa Polson prefers cars because of parking spaces and drives a 1993 Mercedes Benz 500 E.
“While the name sounds very glamorous, [the vehicle] is well used to fit into the high school stereotype,” Polson said. “But I prefer cars because parking spaces aren’t so small.”
According to KRON4, Wyoming residents drive the most pickup trucks in the entire United States, which is probably because of all of the farming and ranching that Wyoming is famous for.
However, not everybody goes for practical reasons, such as freshman Rylan Gillet who likes watching races.
“[I prefer] cars, like watching the Figure 8 races,” Gillet said. “They are really fun to watch and my dad races in them. “I’m always down in the pits because I get a good view of everything.”
PHS students have varying opinions on whether or not trucks are better than cars.
