COLUMN: Why Black Friday is – or is not – a good – or bad idea

The big day that everyone has been waiting for has come and gone. Black Friday. This is the only day where it is socially acceptable to camp out in the Walmart parking lot just to get a sweet deal on the 48’-inch flat screen TV.  I can’t even! This article was kind of hard to write to be honest.

Honestly, what is so important about Black Friday that you LITERALLY feel the need to knock people over in order to get through the door? What’s the point? Chances are there are going to be plenty of  TVs, games and even skis that you can politely walk through the door without causing broken limbs.

… while you wake up at the crack of dawn, the online shoppers will be sleeping in and getting better deals online.

There are many sacrifices made on this one day of the year. For example; Powell High School junior Kara Borcher shopped in Billings, Mont., for nearly 16 hours. When asked why she giggled and answered, “I don’t know.”

Neither do I Kara, neither do I. Here’s a tip – The exact same deals are online. It will save you a lot of time and possible damage if you just order everything. The deals are likely 20 times better.

“I’d much rather shop online.” says junior Kayla Streeter.

This is for all of you dedicated shoppers; while you wake up at the crack of dawn, the online shoppers will be sleeping in and getting better deals online.  Good luck in advance for next year! Break a leg… or should I say don’t break a leg?
