Trends. There always seems to be a new ones. The dab, Crocs, Sweater Wednesday and even Pearl Snap Friday. These are all trends that have almost faded away into the distance.

But something that has withstood the test of time, is something very near and dear to many teenagers: Flannel.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines flannel as a “soft twilled wool or worsted fabric with a loose texture and a slightly napped surface.”

“Flannels are one of the most comfiest piece of clothing to wear,” said junior Gabri Lundberg. ”You can layer them with anything and still look good while being comfy.”

Many people choose to participate in what Powell High School students call “Flannel Friday”. This event occurs every single Friday. Whether you choose to participate or not, it still happens.

Of course, not everyone does.

“I wear one every now and then,” said junior Preston Quarles.

When you hear the term lumberjack what comes to mind? For most it is a man with a beard and wearing a flannel.

“They make people look tough and reliable,” freshman Ashton Brewer said.
