Your vote matters. That’s all young adults heard about leading up to the midterm elections.

So on Oct.18, Powell High School seniors had the opportunity to register to vote. They needed to bring their driver’s license and a new level of maturity as they start their journey into society as an adult.

Every two years, voters go to the polls to determine who will be representing us from right here at home to Washington D.C. Tuesday, Nov. 6, that day arrived.

PHS senior Natalie Ostermiller is one of the seniors who took the necessary steps early in order to start this rite of passage.

Ostermiller has been keeping up with the candidates and this year she plans to use her knowledge to make an educated vote.

Sen. John Barrasso was re-elected by Wyoming voters on Nov. 6

“The first time I heard about it before I was 18 was the radio commercials, but now since I will be voting I’ve looked more in depth into each of the candidates,” Ostermiller said before the election.

Seniors Dacean Thomas has also said she took preparations to make sure she knew what each of the candidates wanted for Wyoming.

“I would suggest that everyone watch the election stuff…”  said Thomas, who had some help with obtaining the background info for her decisions. “ …Mrs. Hildebrand helped us a lot I wouldn’t have ever thought of watching the Gubernatorial debate.”

On Election Day (Nov. 6), seniors Ostermiller, Thomas, Trace Jester and Alyssa Gould were a few of several PHS students who believed their vote would make make a difference.
