“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out,” Robert Collier said. Through hard work, dedication, and persistence, a bright future down the road awaits a senior to make the next move. All in all, everything has built up to this moment, signing with a college.
Holding the future in her hands, senior Ivy Agee signs with Black Hills State University on Tuesday, November 11, to continue the sport she had always played, soccer. Since she was 2 years old she has been playing this sport and has enjoyed it all her life.
“Since I was like 2 years old, I’ve been playing soccer, and just like I’ve spent so many years doing it and have worked hard to get to where I am now,” Agee said. “It’s always just been my dream to play in college.”
Playing in college will not only bring Agee to the next level, but also provide a huge relief. She’d been planning to go to a college but wasn’t certain which one to go to.
“When I signed for Black Hills, I felt relieved to finally be committed somewhere instead of worrying about colleges,” Agee said. “Talking to a bunch of coaches and still unsure of where I’m going, but I just feel like a burden was lifted off my shoulders.”
Destiny awaits her next move. As they say, “one door opens as another door closes.” Ivy hopes to finish her high school career strong and make it to the state one last time before her soccer career at Powell High School adjourns.
“I hope that we just overall just keep on improving like what we built on in the past few years,” Agee said. “While also making it to the state championship again this year, with all the hard work we’ve built on.”
She not only hopes to make it to the state championship, but she also wants to leave everything out on the field. For the future of the Lady Panther Soccer at PHS, she hopes to inspire players to continue to work hard and show dedication to this team.
“I just hope that the younger underclassmen have someone to look up to if they do really enjoy this sport,” Agee said. “If they really like soccer, like I could be almost like an older sister for them like, I don’t know, someone to look up to I guess.”
Ivy hopes that the team keeps working hard and keeps improving for the upcoming season. The head coach also explains how well the team has done to reach their goals and get to state.
“I believe it’s going to be a very good year,” head coach for the Lady Panther soccer team Danny Agee said. “We have a strong core, and there are a number of young players coming in that should contribute to the quality of play.”
As the next door begins to open, D. Agee is very proud of her plans. He’s very joyous to see her have excelled in something she loves and will enjoy for the future of her career.
“I am very happy for her,” Agee said. “The coaching staff is great, and she gets along well with some of the ladies. It’s a great academic and athletic opportunity for her to achieve many of her career goals.”
Agee is very excited yet relieved to have signed with Black Hills. She’s ready to open another door, leave her legacy, and everything she has out on the field, with new goals and aspirations awaiting for her around the corner.
