Lunch options are many, and you need not have a lot of money in order to fill your belly.

Everyone has been in that spot — when they find themselves desperately waiting, dreaming, of the sweet release that lunch provides.

Then there is the dismay when you walk up to the lunch line and remember that the food being served is something you find unappealing. Your stomach grumbles and your lunch time is running short. What do you do?

Fear not. Listed below are several answers to your prayers of food.  However, always remember lunch is open to an endless amount of possibilities!

Let’s suppose you open your wallet and find $5 sitting right in the middle of it all. With that kind of money, you could buy:

  1.       Any little snack at Maverick.
  2.       Pretty much anything from the school cafeteria.
  3.       Granola bars that could last you a week.
  4.       Gumballs that could last you a month.
  5.       A snack for one of your unlucky friends (go ahead, be the kind person you know you can be.)

With $1, you could buy:

  1.       PB&J (75 cents)
  2.        4 cookies
  3.       Fries
  4.       Bosco sticks
  5.       Corn dog

But what if you’re flat broke? You might risk your reputation if you ask too much; however, there are a couple of options:

  1.       Eat from the salad bar. (This one is my least favorite.  Honestly, who still eats vegetables?)
  2.       Eat the grass outside. (It’s healthy and the school won’t need to pay people to mow the lawn!)
  3.       Hunt around the school for loose change and buy whatever you can afford. Feel free to use a metal detector.  (Hint: the parking lot and bathrooms collect quite a few pennies.)
  4.       Start selling your belongings or services to people for scraps of food.
  5.       If you have a gullible friend, say “Look, it’s Bill Gates,” then steal their lunch while they’re not looking.
