Coming to Powell High School this Friday-Saturday is the musical comedy The Addams Family.
In this classic play one of the main character, Wednesday Addams falls in love with Lucas Beineke and tries to hide the truth about her engagement from her parents and family. Inevitably they find out and Fester Addams and all the Addams’ ancestors get involved in trying to keep the families together. Will it end in disaster? Will that be a good thing?…Who’s to say?
Several cast members said there are aspects of the play they find challenging.
“I think it will go really well and I think everyone will have a lot of energy during the performance,” said senior Lauren Asher. “My hardest obstacle was learning to sing the songs because I didn’t know how to sing before this.”
Added senior Jake Frankenberry: “(The hardest obstacle was) Learning the tango, all of it.”
And then there are part of the play cast members might not be in but enjoy watching.
“I think the tango looks really cool … (and) pretty much any scene with Jake and Lauren when he kisses her up the arm it’s so funny,” said senior Michaela Kousoulos. “It all tends to pull together last minute so I think it will be pretty good.”
The main cast includes: Gomez: Frankenberry; Morticia: Asher; Grandma: Kalen Wilkens; Lurch: Aiden Hunt; Fester: Trevon Keeler; Pugsley: Madyson Riedinger; and Wednesday: Michaela Kousoulos.
The rest of the cast: Lucas: Jordan Moore; Mal: Wade Musso; Alice: Kenadee Bott;
Ancestors: Ashlyn Aguirre, Bailey Phillips, Abigail Cubbage, Abby Landwehr, Addy Moretti, Emily McCaslin, Cierra Bridges, Rylee Ramsey, Natalie Dillivan, Charlie Hall, Brooks Asher, Holden Wilson, Grant Dillivan, Nicolas Fulton, Wesley Patrick, Devon Ott, Joe Kousoulos and Jaxton Braten
“I think it’s going to go well; we’ve put a lot of time into it, … barring illness,” said director Mr. Robert Hunt. “Illness is the big thing I’m worried about, but I think we’re prepared and it’s going to be a good show.
“I don’t think there was one obstacle with this show I mean there’s kind of a combination of challenges with it; there’s some technical things that had to come together and it’s a newer show too so the musical style is a little bit different. There’s not one thing, every show is a combination of things that makes that particular show challenging.”

This play was AWESOME! I went Saturday, and it was fantastic! The crowd was very involved and loved the humor. People were laughing at all the right times. The acting and singing, the lighting, the set, it was all just top notch! Way to go everyone who had a part in it!

I have only seen the show once. I thought it was pretty good. But I won’t be able to see this play I’m so sad.

I love this movie, so when it is a play I can’t wait to see it. But it will be nice to see it while being backstage. The cast are amazing, very friendly. I can’t wait to see it all come together!

In all my years teaching, those who have put the time and effort into the play have never failed to produce something very entertaining! Can’t wait to see what they have done this year….looks great!
