Senior calender update

More stories from McKenzie Thompson

Calling all seniors! By now you’ve all heard the term “Senior Calendar” —  that long list of to-dos seniors get for each month that most don’t look at till maybe the end of the month just to stress out and cry.

Even though September has come and gone, here’s what you should have accomplished:

  1. Talk to your counselor
    • If you haven’t yet, go schedule your senior interview with Mrs. Tammy Thiel and start from there. They will go over your GPA, class ranking and high school transcript.
    • If you are planning on receiving the Hathaway Scholarship, make sure you have all the required classes needed.

“It helped me know what path I wanted to take and where I wanted to be successfully,” senior Kat Morrison said,  referring to how her senior interview helped her.

  1. Attend special programs the school puts on
    • Senior/Parent Financial Aid night
    • The Planning Days at Northwest College
  2. Start your search for the college of your dreams – or what you can afford.
    • Gather the information about the colleges that you’re looking at and go visit their campuses. Not every college is as wonderful as their website makes it out to be, go see for yourself and get those couple days excused from school.
    • If the schools you are looking at accepts the Common Application, get on it.  Along with that begin a generic essay that makes you look better than you probably are for college admissions and scholarships, bribe your English teacher to read through and edit them.
    • Register for the ACT/SAT if you weren’t thrilled about the score you received from the online version we suffered through last April.
