The PHS Drama Club continues to work on the ‘80s-themed musical Rock of Ages, which is set for a show nights of Feb. 22-23.

While the play is fast approaching, cast and crew remain optimistic about the production.

“[The play] is going well,” Theatre Director Mr. Robert Hunt said. “Everybody is learning their music pretty well, it helps that people already knew the songs.”

Stage Manager senior Sadie Wenzel also seemed positive about the speed of the production.

“We’ve made a lot of progress,” Wenzel said. “Considering the amount of time that we’ve had to do what we have done, I think it’s going to be a good show.”

With the production only a few weeks away, only a few problems seem to concern the production members.

“There have been a few people that have been gone a lot for vacation and other things,” junior Grant Dillivan said. “I’m a little worried they won’t get their act together, but I think overall I’m not really worried about anything.”

Other members of production are concerned about other problems that may plague production.

“I’m worried I’ll get sick, or anyone will get sick,” junior Nicolas Fulton said. “That would really be a bummer.”

Mr. Hunt seems even less concerned with problems surrounding the musical.

“I have no great worries with this play,” Mr. Hunt said. “Every time I direct a play, I have the same worries about things going wrong technically or something like that; Illness is something I always worry about, but the actors seem to be healthy.”

Regardless of the tight schedule, Mr. Hunt remains confident that the production is on track to be a good show.

“In a musical people have to progress [at] an incredible pace,” Mr. Hunt said. “Every week we are twice as good as we were the week before, and that’s just what’s needed to make the show happen.”

Overall, the theatre club seems motivated and hopeful for the upcoming show.

“I’m excited for the final productio

n; that’s always what’s most exciting,” Wenzel said. “To see everything you’ve worked on come together as a whole … I think it’s going to be really popular.”
