Tensions are high with the approaching election and voters feel pressure to choose the right candidate. However, that may change after being informed of Pitbull Corgi candidate, Prez.

“Prez is a good candidate because he cares about the people,” PHS senior and long time Prez supporter Elsie Spomer said. “He loves them and wants what’s best for them.”

Over a year later and after what started as a recurring joke on Prowl reporter, Lucyjane Crimm’s snapchat, Prez is continuing his campaign and touching the hearts of PHS staff and students alike.

“Prez isn’t a good dog,” PHS spanish teacher Mr. Brandon Preator said. “He’s a great dog.”

Prez is running under the slogan “Prez For President, Building a Kinder World for All” and with the values of kindness, improving the reputation of less desired dog breeds and banning clothing for dogs.

Politics have become less about improvement and more about winning against the opponent; while Prez is all about winning, it’s because he needs to win to make improvement.

“Get him included in one of the debates,” added Preator.

Various projects are being worked on, including a picture book about bullying and campaign posters. Prez has built up a rather good following on his Instagram and even has a political poster in journalism adviser Mr. Vin Cappiello’s room.

“Pitbulls and Corgis are both two of my favorite dogs,” PHS English teacher and avid dog lover Mrs. Nan O’Neil said. “The Corgi is very “go get [them]” and organizes everyone and the Pitbull is very protective so I think that would be a good combination.”

Prez’s campaign started as a joke on social media but quickly became a platform to raise awareness about the negative shift the world has taken. Prez puts smiles on people’s faces every day and has shown that sometimes a Pitbull with short legs is all it takes to add some positivity to someone’s day.
