Leaves are falling, winds are chilling and fall is coming around the corner with a huge slap. The most memorable aspect of this season is Halloween. Last year, the sociopaths and social media gave us killer clowns. Thankfully, this blew over. This year, we have five ways you can get your spook on at school without breaking the dress codes and being over the top.

  1. Give candy to your fellow classmates. Simply fill a basket with Tootsie Rolls and throw them through the halls as if you’re the flower girl at a Halloween-themed wedding. You might get on the custodian’s bad side, but hey, the student body will appreciate you.
  2. Flip on that cooking part of your brain and bake spooky desserts for a class or perhaps just your favorite teacher. There is an infinite amount of Halloween recipes online. For example, eyeball Rice Crispie balls or ghost cupcakes. Then, after school, you can pig out on what’s left of what you made.
  3. This tip is for the ladies, but is not limited to everybody else. You could hop on the creative train and ride that baby home by doing your makeup, hair or nails. There is no school policy saying you can’t do your cosmetics a certain way. That means, a lot of YouTube tutorials on creepy makeup and hair ideas. This way, you could go all out without getting in trouble for wearing a costume.
  4. A very, very subtle costume. Y’know, like a shirt that says “this is my costume.” Or, you could just use your regular clothes and spice it up a bit. Add a tutu or an accessory to your outfit. If you desired to be a doctor, you could carry around stethoscope (you can’t get mad if you’re called weird, though).
  5. Go around spookin’ people. There’s nothing wrong with giving people mini heart attacks, right? Hide behind a corner in one of the pods (are you listening, Mr. Hildebrand?) and scare the pants off of some of your friends coming your way. On second thought, let’s make sure their pants are secure.
